Xitang

We started our Labour Day journey in the morning of May 1st. Xintang is located in Jiashan country which belongs to Jiaxing. It is a famous ancient riverside town in China. We just walked around the town along the stone-paved roads and bridges which overlooked many boats with awnings. In the town, we visited Xiyuan a small viewpoint, which is where many of the first members of the South Society came from. We ate lunch there and then went to Jiaxing.

Jiaxing Catholic Church

Jiaxing Catholic Church is quite small but exquisite with a lawn around it. It’s a pity that we couldn’t enter the church to visit.

In the late afternoon and evening, we visited the Yuehe History Block. There‘s a bar street, flower shops and so on.

Running in Jiaxing

In the morning of next day, I ran 10km around the city. I took some photos when running.

South Lake(Jiaxing)

South Lake maybe the most famous attraction of Jiaxing. The 1st National Congress of the CCP(Chinese Communist Party) was transferred from Shanghai to Jiaxing in 1921 and the final agenda was carried out in a boat on South Lake, which concluded with the establishment of the party. We planed to take a boat tour on South Lake. But it is too crowded to enter the attraction, we dropped the plan. After that, we came back home.

Impression

Jiaxing is a small beautiful city near Shanghai and famous for its delicious food Zongzi. Jiaxing’s greenery is very good and it also has many bridges， because its inner city is surrounded by rivers shown in the running route map. Jiaxing is quite important in modern history, you can see both ancient city wall, ancient street and church. We even saw a building with eastern and western style. Obviously, people living in Jiaxing in early 1900 had begun to come contact with western culture.
